hi,i have a peugeot x cc x petrol auto kt54ndf and have been having problems with brakes since I purchased it. it is a category c car with damage towards the passenger side and left front. the abs leads appear to be sellotaped up. had issues with extended travel so it was bled many times, which didn`t resolve the issue and air kept coming out. after this the extended travel got worse and brakes went to the floor sometimes at first then gradually they failed totally. had to have master cylinder changed, which improved the problem. however, another issue developed straight away. whenever I put force on the brakes or used emergency braking, the brakes would just get stuck, become totally soft and the car would stop. even if I lifted my foot off the pedal, it wouldnt move as the brakes were sticking. I would have to switch car off and restart it, which then reset the whole thing and I was able to drive as normal. as long as I dont press the brake pedal too hard, i`ve had little to no problems, though. my concern is that, i`ve just noticed when I drive in snow, even normal pressure on the brake pedal causes the same problem of brakes grabbing and getting stuck. I then have to switch the ignition off and restart. I have been told before that this is likely to be the abs unit, though ive checked on the internet that it could just be hoses, faulty valves or vaccuum. I realise that this could be serious during the snow and was wondering if you have any specialists in this area who could help. I would like some idea of the costs and if it is the abs unit then what are my options? new, repair old, refurbished? scrap yard? how can I obtain these parts?would prefer a mobile mechanic but not necessary kind regards, mohamed
